At the Edge: Designing with Esthetics and Biology in Mind

Date / Time
June 25, 2025 07:00 PM in Eastern Time (US and Canada)

Successful smile design lives at the edge, where restorative design is guided by intention and shaped by biological precision. This course explores the interdisciplinary decision-making process behind when to add, when to reduce, and how to coordinate periodontal and restorative interventions for harmonious and stable outcomes. Through clinical examples, we will examine how margins, proportions, and tissue behavior influence treatment planning, and how collaboration between the periodontist and the prosthodontist can elevate both esthetics and long-term function

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the clinical and esthetic indicators that determine whether to intervene at the incisal edge, the gingival margin, or both.
  • Understand how restorative design influences periodontal stability and how soft tissue response should guide prosthetic decisions. Discuss the current scientific evidence regarding these group of prosthetic materials in implant dentistry.
  • Integrate interdisciplinary strategies to create biologically respectful and esthetically balanced outcomes in anterior restorations.
