Graduate Research Competition and Digital Poster Presentation Program

Invitation to Submit: 2026 Graduate Research Competition & Digital Poster Presentation Program

The American Prosthodontic Society (APS) invites applications for the 2026 Graduate Research Competition and Digital Poster Presentation Program at the 97th APS Annual Meeting, February 19–20, 2026, at the Swissôtel Chicago. This program showcases new research and innovative ideas in prosthodontics and fosters discussion among peers and leaders in the field.

Poster Program Date: Thursday, February 19, 2026 (held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting).

Key Dates

·         Abstract Submission Deadline: December 10, 2025

·         Video Upload (for selected posters): December 31, 2025

·         Final Approval Notifications: January 15, 2026

·         Annual Meeting: February 19–20, 2026 (Swissôtel Chicago)

Eligibility & Membership

Who may present posters:
- Graduate students enrolled in advanced education programs (must be APS student members by the meeting date).
- Dental laboratory technologists in training at recognized programs.
- Undergraduate students may be considered individually based on research quality.

All presenters must register for the meeting and pay the applicable fee. Travel or other expenses are not reimbursed.

Categories

Submissions must relate directly to clinical prosthodontics and fall into one of the following:
1) Research presentations (emphasizing clinical problems and applications)
2) Clinical Case presentations / topics (useful techniques and innovative concepts)

Commercial/promotional presentations are not permitted.

Submission Guidelines

Submit an abstract (via the online portal) and verification of current graduate program enrollment. Unless otherwise indicated on the application, all abstracts will be considered for both the Graduate Research Competition and the Digital Poster Program.

Each abstract should include:
a) The clinical challenges motivating the research or the clinical technique presented
b) The purpose of the presentation
c) Key clinical implications/applications of the research or technique
d) A brief biographical sketch of the presenter

For selected posters: Upload a 5–10 minute narrated video presentation (webinar format) by December 31, 2025 to remain eligible for judging and prizes.

Judging & Awards

Research Category: Initial judging occurs online. The top three will present from the main podium during the Annual Meeting and be judged by a committee. Monetary prizes:
- 1st place: $2,500
- 2nd place: $1,500
- 3rd place: $1,000

Clinical Case Category: Top three receive certificates of placement.

Student status: All poster presenters must be APS student members and enrolled in a graduate program at the time of the meeting.

DIGITAL POSTERS

*All presenters are required to submit a digital version of their poster.
Specifications: JPG format / size 16:9 ratio (landscape orientation) at least 2000 pixels wide.
Submissions are due by December 31, 2025.


GENERAL INFORMATION

Use PowerPoint and set the dimensions of your poster to 16:9 in landscape orientation. You can do this by opening PowerPoint, selecting “Design”, “Slide Size” and “Custom Slide Size”.

Before submitting, save your poster as a JPG file. All recent versions of PowerPoint and most other software applications allow you to save your poster as a JPG file from the “File > Save as” menu or through the “File > Print > as .JPG” option.


SLIDE DESIGN

Your digital poster should include the following information:

  1. Title and Presenter/Author Names
  2. Purpose/Aim, Materials & Methods, Results and Conclusions – where applicable
  3. Graphs, Charts or Photos that support your case/research

Text: The text should be concise and to the point, with key facts emphasized. Minimum suggested font size: 24 (20 for references).

Colors: Choose color combinations that make your text easy to read on a monitor and have a large contrast (dark lettering on a light background or the reverse).

Layout: Keep data simple and ensure a logical order of the content.

Images and Effects: For embedded images, use .jpeg or .png file formats in a resolution of 72 or 96 dpi. Do not use animated effects, “animations” or videos.
